Brazil Rio De Janeiro

Hello, Dolls!

So it's been a little over a month since me and the hubby embarked to Brazil the trip was mainly for our first Formula one race together, which was in Sao Paulo but we ended up starting in Rio De Janeiro first!

The home of the Samba and authentic Caipirinhas

Rio is absolutely beautiful, we struggled with communication for the first few days, no one and I mean no one speaks English! So i would suggest learning the basics of Portuguese, so you can get around. it's also pretty difficult to get a Simcard in Rio if you're not roaming like us, so going forward we're getting a global sim card, there's WIFI at most restaurants and Cafes, and uber is available making getting around much easier despite the language barrier.

When in Rio

You cant go to Rio and not see the famous Christ the Redeemer statue, the lines to see the statue are pretty long and you'll end up spending half the day waiting, so we decided to do a helicopter ride instead, which was absolutely breathtaking, not only did we see the statue in all its glory but also got to see Rio from above.

The next must see thing are the famous Rio stairs, they tell a beautiful love story but also where you even in Rio if you don't take a pic by the stairs?

We stayed at the Belmond, which was a little pricey but i love a good hotel, which came in handy on a rainy day and we had to stay indoors it didn't hurt that the hotel had a Gucci boutique adjoined to it either! i would definitely get a cheaper hotel next time, i prefer spending my money on the holiday not so much on the hotel.

There are several good restaurants the Belmond also offering one of the best restaurants, we found ourselves constantly skipping breakfast at the hotel so we could explore different smaller cafes, our favorite is called gringo restaurant ( i guess the name says it all lol!)

When to Travel

This city falls under a tropical wet and dry climate, which is normally mild in all seasons. Summer season starts from the month of December and lasts until February, when temperatures might rise a little high with low humidity. Rainfall can be expected during the summer due to high temperatures and sometimes it can last for consecutive days. Therefore, the best time to visit Rio de Janeiro is definitely during the winter season. In winter, normally the city experiences a cloudy climate with showers but is not so cold even at night. From July to September, daytime is usually quite warm with bright sunlight that suits perfectly for the beach destinations and to explore the beautiful natural sceneries of Rio.
